Hi fellow acne prone skin,

Do you feel that it is frustrating to deal with acne or sudden breakouts?  If you do, then I am sure you understand that I am always willing to try product to deal with it.  Besides, it has been sometime since I reviewed Korean product for acne prone skin.  One being the Chica Y Chico Tota 3.0 that contain centella asiatica. So, here is , Alivelab Centella Dressing Powder which just made its appearance in early 2017.

ALIVE:LAB Centella Dressing Powder comes in a 8ml plastic blue bottle which I really like.  It is very light and easy to carry around.  The ingredient list is short and contains all the ingredients that my skin love.

It contains zinc oxide which is calming and healing to acne prone skin. Zinc oxide is presented in products for diaper rash, eczema, barrier cream,calamine cream, antiseptic ointment and in anti dandruff shampoo.  My skin just love zinc oxide. However, if you have problem with zinc, better avoid it.

Another ingredients presented in this ALIVE:LAB Centella Dressing Powder is centella asiatica which is always work gently to calm my angry pimples and red skin.  Centella asiatica is another ingredient for acne that I really love for my acne prone skin and recommend for those with sensitive acne prone skin that can't handle stronger ingredients such as AHA, BHA or retinol.  Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate is used as skin conditioning agent with anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties. A new ingredient that I haven't try before is azelaic acid which is used to treat acne and it is really gentle. Panthenol is an vitamin B5 which is really great is moisturising wounded skin without clogging the pores since it quickly oxidised to pantothenic acid.


ALIVE:LAB Centella Dressing Powder is gentle to my acne prone skin and does help to calm my angry skin in a matter of days. It doesn't sting, burn or cause any pain.  There isn't any scent at all.  I admit that I like it and always reach for this product at night.

The best way is to use it in a form of white paste.  I also use it as spot treatment (neem powder, a drop of tea tree oil, centella water).  It doesn't work on those red acne scars but it can lessen the redness on the skin.  It won't stick on dry skin so use it as spot treatment with some toner or cream.  I also add a little to my sunscreen to protect my skin since zinc oxide does offer sunscreen protection. I didn't use it with cleanser because it is such as waste because it won't stay on my skin for more than a minute.

So, here is the thing, I can only use it at night or when I don't need to go out.  The white powder has a white cast since we need to use 1:1 ratio so that it is a white paste for it to be effective on healing the acne. Try to use a non clogging cream with the centella powder since if it is just water, that area will crust over and looks really flaky or dry. Another things if you apply a lot ALIVE:LAB Centella Dressing Powder, you will need a cleanser or konjac sponge to remove the white cast of the zinc oxide in the morning.

Overall, ALIVE:LAB Centella Dressing Powder is a great very gentle acne product to heal the skin and reduce the redness on the skin.  If your skin is sensitive and find that AHA, BHA or retinols irritate your skin, do look into this Alive Centella Dressing Powder.

COSRX Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion (with Birch Sap) the first ingredients as the Birch Sap.  It is a gel based moisturiser in a pump up plastic bottle which is easy for application.  It does smell strong of tea tree with lemon which goes away once it dries down.  It does leave film if not absorb properly since it contains Dimethicone.  So, make sure to really pat it in to avoid those film feeling(Don't rub too hard since it can cause friction on the skin).  It also contain hyaluronic acid for moisture.  Do check the list of ingredients first since ingredients such as olive derived ingredients, lemon oil, tea tree and fatty alcohol may not work well with some skin type.

COSRX Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion (with Birch Sap) does hydrate my skin for 8 hours which is great for the normal part of my skin.  It does look 'shiny' if I apply a lot(more than a dime size) so ease up on the application.  My skin did turned slightly red with my first application but subsequent usage was fine =).  Honestly, I think it works better as a day moisturiser than using it at night.  I usually need a different moisturiser at night to help my acne prone skin.

Overall, COSRX Oil Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion is day moisturiser for oily skin, like Cosrx products, love birch sap,  like tea tree and is not allergic to any of the ingredients.  It does really moisturise the skin for 8hours.

Sage is rich in vitamin A and calcium which combats free radicals and thus help with anti ageing.  What I find interesting is that Clitoria Tematea which is an Ayurvedic medicine used to soothe skin and help skin with condition such as acne or pimples is presented in this product.  Lemon balm, Althaea Rosea and Acacia Senegal is used to soothe tension and to treat inflammation.

A. by Bom Super Powder Baby Ultra Cool Leaf Mask is made from lyocell which has better adhesion compare to cotton.  It is durable like polyester but breathable like linen, eco friendly and said that the sheet mask will compose within a month.  I find that it is soft on the skin too.  The sheet mask does fit my face. The leaf doesn't move around when I apply it on my face.

The cool leaf patch is a concentrating care to enhance the elasticity of the skin, relief the skin and reduces wrinkles.

The ultra cooling mask is for hydrating, cooling skin with lime,basil, aloe, lemon balm,herbs.

So, one get the double cooling, relieving and double soothing which seems to be the in trend products for sheet mask for 2017 since I think I have start seeing companies coming up with innovative patches for special care which is used along with the sheet mask for double effect.

A. by Bom Super Powder Baby Ultra Cool Leaf Mask has those mesh looking film to protect the sheet mask which is really unique because it is my first time seeing something like this. It does better to protect the sheet mask.

Those leaf patch sure is unique and fancy on the skin. You can apply the leaf on special area or any way that you like.  I apply it on my eyes area because that is place I need most care.

The sheet mask does fit my face well and the cut on the jaw area allows for better adjustment of the mask on face.  It also adhere to my skin without falling off my face sitting upright.

A. by Bom Super Powder Baby Ultra Cool Leaf Mask has jelly essence so it doesn't drip onto my clothes. I wore it for about 25 minutes before it start to dry.  The sheet mask doesn't have any strong scent to it.  It is hard for me to distinguish the smell since there isn't any specific smell to it. My skin does feel cool during the duration of wear.  My skin does feel more plump, less redness, brighten up and softer.  Not sure if it does anything to get rid of my acne but it does speed up the healing time of those red acne marks on my skin.  I am not sure if you can see the subtle effect on my skin but my skin does feel softer to the touch the next day.

Overall, A. by Bom Super Powder Baby Ultra Cool Leaf Mask is suitable for combination skin type, calming, moisturise the skin and if no allergy to the ingredients. I think it is great as a sheet mask for after a day at the beach, protect your skin before makeup or for skin that just over exfoliate and so in need of immediate hydration but not clogging on the pores.

REVIEW ON CURE NATURAL AQUA GEL

If you have preference for gentle exfoliating products to get rid of dead skin cells and to improve the texture of your skin without using those grainy scrubs then do have a look at this skincare products from Japan.

Here is the review on the Japanese Cure Natural Aqua Gel on which it sold 1 bottle every 12 seconds.

Cure Natural Aqua Gel bottle is made from plastic and the liquid inside comes out in form of thicker clear gel water which should be applied after cleansing on a dry skin.  Cure Natural Aqua Gel is made from 90% water so it is gentle to the skin for physical exfoliation. Although some people said it doesn't work and those are just gimmicks, I do think that it helps with exfoliation especially for people who could not afford those expensive luxurious brush and too harsh to use grainy scrubs.

If you are one of those people that generally doesn't work that well with chemical peeling that dissolving skin protein with strong acids (AHA, BHA, fruits acids, glycolic acids, etc.) then one can try Cure Natural Aqua Gel which removes those dead skin gently. There is no need to apply pressure to 'peel' the skin off. I just gently move my fingers in circle and if there are dead cells, it comes out in forms of tiny balls.

My skin does look smoother, brighter and softer after using Cure Natural Aqua Gel.  However, one with skin problem such as acne should avoid using it since it can aggravate skin.  Cure Natural Aqua Gel is for cleansing the texture from some dead skin cells trap on top of the skin.  It doesn't have any fragrance, colour and preservative so one can use on your body as well.

I use it once every week. It is not recommended to use daily since it is a waste of products to keep removing the dead skin every day.

I know that peeling gel get bad reputation that it is just some sort of balls and some people are still adamant about it being useless but then rave about having sheet mask doing miracles on their skin immediately which I think both doesn't have any true unbiased scientific studies on them.  I do feel that peeling gel is probably the same as clay mask that helps to reduce sebum and clean the skin better but of course it is not a miracle. So, there is my take on peeling gel.

Overall, Cure Natural Aqua Gel is a gentle physical exfoliator to brighten the skin.  However, not recommend if you have active acne on your skin.  The Cure water treatment cream is more suitable as a gentle moisturiser for acne prone skin since it is water based.
